Nature Strikes Back
Think about this for a moment, what causes global warming and is probably to blame for the warm waters in the gulf and therefore for the fast growing and extreme hurricanes we see? To much emissions from cars with high consumption of gasoline besides other sources by the power hungry US. So now the second hurricane Rita threatens the refineries and oil rigs that the first storm Katrina did not damage yet. Rita could threaten up to 18 Texas oil refineries that have a combined capacity of 4 million barrels per day, or nearly one-fourth of the nation’s total refining capacity.
Therefore we will see increased gas prices and maybe lower gasoline consumption, so will the hurricanes do what Kioto could not do and force folks to use less gas, buy cars with better millage and look for alternative and renewable energy resources?
What an irony if nature will heal itself with hurricanes of the wounds inflicted by mankind. Maybe this thoughts are cooked up a bit to hot, but then again who can blame me, blame global warming.
