From Poorhouse to Powerhouse, see this interesting article here from Spiegel Online: "India is out to capture the markets of the world. Calcutta, that city of squalor, could experience its own Indian summer as an international technology hub – with the help of communist politicians and global investors. Will it be the next boomtown in this IT wonderland?"
I have worked in the recent past with some programmers from India and am amazed of the quality and competitive products they offer. I’m sure they will do well. Have you worked with India in any commercial ventures already?

BusinessWeek Online reports here: New York’s Attorney General has turned his attention to Sony BMG’s copyright-protection fiasco.
BUYER, BEWARE. Spitzer’s office dispatched investigators who, disguised as customers, were able to purchase affected CDs in New York music retail outlets — and to do so more than a week after Sony BMG recalled the disks. The investigators bought CDs at stores including Wal-Mart (WMT ), BestBuy (BBY ), Sam Goody, Circuit City (CC ), FYE, and Virgin Megastore, according to a Nov. 23 statement from Spitzer’s office.
Sony BMG says it shipped nearly 5 million CDs containing the software, of which 2.1 million had been sold. The company says 52 individual titles are affected.
Spitzer’s office urged consumers not to buy the disks, and if they do buy them, not to play them in computers. The disks should be returned to the place of purchase for a refund, Spitzer advises.

The Washington Post writes in this article: "Until recently, a rough consensus in the small world of tropical cyclone specialists had held that there was no evidence of unnatural hurricane trends over the 20th century. Hurricane activity over the Atlantic has fluctuated naturally over decades going back as far as 1900, and it was unlikely that global warming could be having a significant impact, many researchers said.
But a pair of scientific papers published this year detected an unexpected spike in storm intensity over the past several decades, suggesting that global warming might already be having an effect."
For reference see also here from The Georgia Institute of Technology: Hurricanes Are Getting Stronger, Study Says.
The Graphic shows: The number of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes worldwide has nearly doubled over the past 35 years.
