In an essay (see here at Spiegel Online), former German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer writes about mistakes and shortcomings in Washington’s Middle East policies. Gloomy predictions about the Iraq war, he writes, have been surpassed by reality.
So, where are the cab driver’s positive suggestions? What contributions did the world’s third richest economy make during his tenure as Foreign Minister?
It is pretty hard to find a positive solution to the American problem in Iraq. I am an American. I don’t know how to get out without leaving behind a full blown civil war. I don’t think that Joschka Fischer knows either. He didn’t write a news article. He just set the obvious into type.
