It is more than unfortunate that the problem of racism in America can only be highlighted by six young black men who stomped a young white man. It's unfortunate because young men of all colors in the United States feel that it is okay and acceptable to settle their problems with violence.
I believe that the Democratic candidates for president are maintaining a "hands-off" attitude about this case because and the implications of racism because race is still a hot button issue in America and the Republicans have won elections based on racist innuendo. Besides, in America today if you're a liberal it translates into being a terrorist.
If either party were dedicated to making a difference and maintaining the freedoms and liberties gifted to us by our forefathers, trust me votes on key issues and nominations by the the so-called lame duck president and his band of bullies would have been handled quite differently. It's politics as usual and when it's not politics it's about corporatocracy and the need for greed.
There is a US Givernemnt text book used in US High Schools to teach students that states: "One of the things a person needs to become president of the United States is to be rich!"
So, if you think that racism died in America, think again. Racism died for liberal and racist white folks who got tired of hearing black people say that the playing field wasn't level. There is a simmering cauldron of hatred and frustration in America and this war on terrorism hasn't made life any easier to live in these United States.. So, race and race relations is at the bottom of the list when it comes to pursuing the highest seat in the land.
Since our pre-emptive strike against a country that was uninvolved in 9/11 and our collective unconsciousness about the rest of the world around us, Americans are self-imploding on undirected hatred towards an unidentified enemy. The point is, life in America is undersiege by our politicians and our judicial branch. There is so much wrong in our society, how can the lives of six young black men, who will probably end up in jail one day anyway, be a catalyst to right the wrongs gainst a people that continues to be perpetrated everyday and not just in the south?
