Under the Dome: A Novel by Stephen King

Book Description
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester’s Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener’s hand is severed as “the dome” comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when — or if — it will go away.
Dale Barbara, Iraq vet and now a short-order cook, finds himself teamed with a few intrepid citizens — town newspaper owner Julia Shumway, a physician’s assistant at the hospital, a select-woman, and three brave kids. Against them stands Big Jim Rennie, a politician who will stop at nothing — even murder — to hold the reins of power, and his son, who is keeping a horrible secret in a dark pantry. But their main adversary is the Dome itself. Because time isn’t just short. It’s running out.

Reuters reports here at Yahoo News: “WASHINGTON – Researchers searching for a cure for obesity said on Thursday they have developed a drug that not only makes mice lose weight, but reverses diabetes and lowers their cholesterol, too.”
Now that sounds almost too good to be true.

CNN reports here: “The popular encyclopedia, which has drawn criticism for inaccuracies, says it will try assigning editors to some of its entries.”
Whats your take on this one? I think it makes sense to some degree, to avoid abuse and spam, but then again on some issues the information could become very one sided, unless the editor is open for different opinions or view points.

I Bitch, Therefore I Am

I Bitch, Therefore I Am

The eagerly anticipated third book in the BITCH series, I BITCH, THEREFORE I AM is a saucy collection of fiercely feminist declarations paired with kitschy vintage advertising images in an easel-backed book that demands to be displayed. Quite possibly more daring and defiant than its predecessors, I BITCH ponders the fine points of bitchiness with provocative panache. Walking a thin line between vulgarity and hilarity, this feisty little flipbook is the ideal gift for snarky sophisticates, domestic divas, and mavens on the edge.

A balanced diet is the best option, BBC News reports here: “Low-carb slimming diets may clog arteries and increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes, a study suggests.”
I always thought that a balanced diet is the best option, to little or to much of anything can be bad, so as they say eat a bit more fruit and vegetables and a bit less fat, but a bit of everything is the best option! Also see this website for nutrition facts on fruit and vegetables with many good tips!
